In stroke due to a large vessel occlusion, every minute until mechanical thrombectomy counts. With one-stop management, patients are taken directly to the angiography suite, imaged there with flat-detector CT, and thrombectomy can start without further transfer.
The study analysed 205 patients treated this way at the University Medical Center Göttingen between 2014 and 2019 and compared them with 2,470 conventionally treated patients from the German Stroke Registry. Mean door-to-groin time was 33 instead of 96 minutes, and the one-stop approach was associated with better functional outcomes. Prof. Ilko Maier is second author of the paper.
This is an observational study (registration: NCT03356392).
